So You Wanna Sell Your iPhone?

Apple has already started sending out invites for an event happening on September 12th, and it is a good bet that the tech giant will be formally introducing three new iPhone models on that date. Based on previous years, it is a good bet too that for current iOS mobile users, the price of their iPhone device will probably go down. So for those thinking of selling their Apple smartphone, they might want to start now. However, before they do so, they need to take note of some tips.

For many people, iPhone devices are now considered an extension of their private lives, simply because the smartphone basically contains personal and even potentially sensitive security information. It goes without saying that nobody wants other people to get hold of that data. The simplest way to make sure this does not happen is to wipe the iPhone’s memory. But it is always a wise decision to back up everything. There are several ways to do this -- backing up files can be done either on iCloud (more on this later), Google, or on one’s personal computer or laptop.

Backing up on iCloud should not be a problem for those Apple devices powered by iOS 5 or any newer version. This is because iCloud backs up any important information automatically on a daily basis. But remember that for iCloud to do its work, the iOS device has to be connected to a Wi-Fi network, plugged into a power source, and with its screen locked. Naturally, backing up manually is also possible -- this can be done by going to Settings, iCloud, and then Backup. After finishing the back up, make sure to disable the iPhone unit from one’s iCloud account. To do this, just head to this web page, choose Devices, select the iPhone unit, and then tap Remove from Account. To back up via iTunes, right click on your iPhone in iTunes under Devices and select Back Up. After everything is done, the iPhone needs to be reset. To do this, just head to Settings, General, Reset, and then tap Erase All Content and Settings.

When it comes to selling used iPhones, the obvious first place to go to is eBay. It would be wise to take note of your unit’s model type, color, storage configuration, and color. With regards to pricing, once can probably get an idea from other listings on eBay, but if you really want your unit to be sold fast, it is a good idea to price your offer lower than most.
