How the Amazon Fire Phone ruined my life
Posted on: November 11th, 2014 by madconsumer
Beware the very short 14 day return policy! I bought through AT&T and was very disappointed when I brought it back completely fed up on day 19... I moved on to Amazon only to receive advice on how to do a hard reset and if that didn't work a factory reset. The issues I've had with this phone are extensive, even if I get passed how difficult it is to get used to, a completely different user interface, no back button, and difficult to pull up menu screens based on the tilt of the phone. Don't try to use it laying down or any position other than upright, the phone does not adjust to your position and will pull up random screens or change views based on your angle. There are a very few screen savers to choose from. I have turned the rotate feature off several times but it keeps resetting so I get a new creepy background every day. Nothing light and normal or natural looking, they all look like something out of a poe novel. I couldn't receive messages from iphone users for weeks because it isn't imessage compatible. I'm not able to set up my work email, which is outlook, because the open source platform doesn't meet my company's security standards. The side button features for volume and camera/firefly are difficult to press depending on how long you hold it down it will pull up firefly or camera or snap a shot... so three functions for one button depending on how long you, press, very confusing. I can't seem to pull the camera up when there's actually something happening. By the time the slow features open and are ready to go, the photo opportunity is gone. I wait several seconds to switch between apps or to close an app. Not to mention the apps I used everyday like bankofamerica, are not available on fire. Come to find out, none of the google aps are available either. I couldn't even get the myATT app for easier bill pay. YouTube app? no. I turned my phone on yesterday and all of the apps are gone, rows and rows of apps grouped together... deleted? I have no idea. If you plan on using this phone for anything except shopping amazon, good luck!! I am so unhappy!! And now I am stuck paying for this phone for the next 16 months, THIS PHONE IS AWFUL!! PLEASE DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!
