Verizon’s New $25-Per-Line Deal Comes With an Important Limitation

Verizon has rolled out a lower-priced offer on its Unlimited Welcome plan, giving shoppers a cheaper way to sign up for four lines. With the new promotion, four lines now cost $100 per month before taxes and regulatory fees, which works out to $25 per line. That is down from the previous $120 monthly price for the same four-line setup.

According to Android Authority, the discount comes from a $20 monthly credit tied to Verizon’s Unlimited Welcome plan. The biggest catch is that this offer is only available to new Verizon customers, so existing subscribers should not expect the same pricing just by staying on their current service.

For that $100 monthly rate, all four lines get unlimited talk, text, and 5G data. Verizon also says the plan comes with a three-year price lock, although that does not stop taxes and other fees from going up over time.

There are a few trade-offs to keep in mind. Unlimited Welcome does not include access to Verizon’s faster 5G Ultra Wideband service, and the unlimited data does not extend to hotspot use. Customers who want hotspot access would need to move up to Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Ultimate, which the report says cost $40 or $50 per month, respectively. 

The plan also includes some travel-friendly extras for Canada and Mexico. While visiting those countries, customers can use data at 5G speeds for the first 2GB, after which speeds drop to 3G. The offer also includes free texting to as many as 200 countries.

For people thinking about switching carriers, this new pricing makes Verizon’s entry-level unlimited option look more appealing than before. But since the deal is limited to new customers and leaves out some premium features, buyers will still want to look closely at what they are getting before making the move.
