T-Mobile’s T-Fiber Outage Stretched Into a Second Day for Some Customers

T-Mobile’s T-Fiber home internet service appears to have suffered a long and frustrating outage that left some customers with broken or unreliable connections for more than 36 hours. The problem did not seem to knock every connection fully offline. Instead, many users said some sites and services would not load even though their equipment still showed a normal connection.

The earliest public source I could verify was a Reddit thread from T-Fiber customers, which was later detailed in a report by The Mobile Report. According to those reports, the issue started around 1 a.m. on May 28 and mainly affected customers in T-Mobile’s former Lumos fibre footprint, while other T-Fiber markets appeared to avoid the disruption.

What made the outage unusual is that customers were often not dealing with a total loss of service. Instead, some said certain websites worked while others would not load at all. The Reddit thread also includes copies of customer emails from T-Fiber, including one message that said service had been restored even though some users said problems were still continuing.

The report published a statement from T-Mobile saying it was responding to a network equipment issue affecting some T-Fiber customers. The company said service had been restored for many customers, but admitted some were still seeing interruptions while restoration work continued.

For customers, the bigger issue may have been the length of the disruption and the mixed messaging around recovery. Even by the time T-Mobile said some service was back, users were still reporting unstable connections and websites that refused to load.
