Verizon’s New Military-Friendly Plan: Pause Your Service, Not Your Life

Verizon is making life easier for military members and their families with a fresh benefit that gives greater control over mobile and home services.
Earlier this week, Verizon announced a new “Military Short Term Suspend” feature that allows eligible military customers to hold their phone service (even if they’re still under contract) for up to 90 days, at a reduced fee of $10/month or their usual plan price—whichever is lower.
For longer deployments (from 90 days up to 3 years), members can completely pause their service, avoid regular charges, and even halt device payments. When they return, they can either pay off any remaining balance or send back their device in good working order to waive extra fees.
Verizon isn’t stopping there. They’re also offering special military discounts that'll stretch your money further. For example, eligible customers can hook up four mobile lines starting at just $25 per line per month. And home internet (Fios) starts at $45, dropping to as little as $30 per month if you bundle mobile and home services with Auto Pay. Plus, Verizon promises a three‑year guarantee on your base rate for Fios. That means predictable bills—no surprise hikes.
There are additional perks too: 25% off accessories online, 10% off in stores, preferred parking and “premium setup” at select Verizon stores, and career and savings programs just for military families. Even Tracfone customers get in on the action, with a 10% discount on prepaid unlimited talk and text plans, verified easily through ID.me.
These benefits come as part of Verizon’s broader effort to simplify customer experience and offer more personalized service, especially for those who serve.
