T-Mobile Imposing Fine to Further Reduce Spam/Scam Texts On Its Network

Despite the numerous ways that carriers are implementing to erase spam and scam texts, there are a few that manage to go through. For 2024, T-Mobile is doing something to lessen this. 

As spotted by Cord Cutters News, the Un-carrier will now impose a fine on third-party organizations that use its network to send illegal texts, spams, and scams. The fine will depend on the category of the text, but will range from $500 to $2,000. 

• Tier 1: For phishing, smishing, and social engineering ($2,000)

• Tier 2: For illegal content ($1,000)

• Tier 3: For all other violations ($500) 

While we cannot completely expect these texts to disappear, this new fine may reduce their number.
