IDC: Global Shipments Of AR, VR Headsets To Grow To Nearly 100 Million Units In 2021

Four years from now, shipments of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) headsets across the globe will increase to almost 100 million units, at least according to projections made by IDC. In a recent report released by the market research firm, worldwide shipments of AR and VR headsets will grow from the 10 million units recorded last year to a tenth of a billion units by the year 2021.

Musical.ly Now Offers Original Content, Thanks To Viacom, NBCU, Hearst

No Laptop Ban On Flights From Europe

Well, at least for now. After several weeks of careful deliberation, the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has decided not to impose a proposed ban laptop devices and other personal electronic devices on flights from the European continent to America. A recent study was conducted by the Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) and the Young Health Movement on the effects of social media platforms on the mental health of today’s mobile users. What the research team did was poll about 1,500 consumers based in the United Kingdom, especially those between 14 years old to 24 years old.

According to a report recently published by Recode, the Republican Party, among others, is urging the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to have robocalls be funneled directly to the user’s voicemail, even stealthily (with the smartphone device not even sending an alert to that regard).

Instagram Introduces Story Search

A couple of months after Snapchat integrated a feature called Search for Stories, Instagram is now debuting a similar functionality called Story Search in order to allow mobile users to search Stories. Specifically, Instagram account holders can now search for a location or a hashtag, and then be shown a Story compilation generated from Story posts by other users that also come with that location sticker, hashtag sticker, or hashtag attached in that post’s caption.

Updates On DHS Ban On Laptops From European Flights

Recently this week in the beautiful city of Brussels in Belgium, the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) held discussions with the European Union with regards to the subject of possibly banning big electronic devices from being taken aboard the cabin of commercial flights coming from the European continent to the US, according to a report recently published by the Associated Press. After the talks, a decision was made, and it favors not going through with the ban.
