Dial-up Internet service provides access to the web over a telephone modem, which is standard in most computers.
Generally, this is the cheapest way to access the Internet, although the limitations of these modems make it also the
slowest way.
As you review dial-up options, here are a couple things to keep in mind:
Accelerator Service: Most of the providers offer this now, although they all call it something different.
Basically, these services 'remember' what web sites you like to visit, and use data compression techniques to deliver
them to you more quickly. This will not improve speeds on video or audio streaming, and is not an
"always-on" connection. This is an optional service that will cost you an additional $3-5 over the
basic monthly rate.
High Speed DSL May be Cheaper: DSL prices have dropped to the point that they can be cheaper than dial-up!
If you are looking for a much faster Internet experience that won't squeeze your budget, check out our
DSL page for current promotions.
The following services provide unlimited dial-up access to the Internet for much less than AOL. Additionally, if you
are a fan of AOL instant messaging (IM), you can use it even if you are no longer an AOL subscriber.
