Apple’s Self Service Repair is now in the US

The much awaited Apple Self Service Repair program is officially available!

This program was unveiled by Apple last year and promised to give customers an option to DIY their device repair. This week, the program has finally launched in the US and gives more than 200 genuine Apple parts and repair tools for specific iPhone models: the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone SE (2022).

With this program, you can now choose and order parts from the Self Service Repair store and have them sent to your address. You can also rent out repair tools at $49 per week so you won’t need to buy any gear.

Another perk is to mail in your old parts to get a store credit. You can use this credit to purchase a new display, battery, camera module, SIM tray, speaker, Taptic engine, or any miscellaneous spare parts.

It’s important to note though that this Self Service Repair is “intended for individuals who are experienced with the complexities of repairing electronic devices.” This means that if you don’t have this knowledge, you may end up doing more damage to your device. If this happens, any hardware damage that takes place during the repair process will not be covered by your warranty.
