With carriers charging up to 45 cents a minute when you exceed your monthly anytime minutes, it doesn't take very much extra talking to double your bill. If you find yourself constantly in this situation, we suggest you contact your carrier about getting on a better rate plan for your calling patterns. Visit our wireless home page
to see what's currently available in your area.

If overage is a periodic issue, we suggest you take a look at Minute Guard. This service will text message you as you approach your anytime minute allowance, thus helping you reduce or even eliminate these overages.

What Does Minute Guard Do?
Minute Guard is a service that continually watches your wireless phone minutes and alerts you via text message and/or e-mail with updates. You decide how and when you want to be alerted. You can choose to receive alerts daily or after you exceed specific levels: 75%, 80%, 90% and 100%.

How Much Does Minute Guard Cost?
Minute Guard is a very affordable service. For consumer customers, there is a $19.95 annual service fee per user. In comparison, $20 per year is less than paying for just 5 minutes of overage every month. A Family plan is also available for up to 5 users at $24.95/year, see pricing grid below for more information.

What Is A Minute Allowance?
A Minute Allowance is a limited number of minutes that a phone can reach before overage charges are accrued. Each phone has its own Minute Allowance that can be set for any desired amount, allowing you to specify how many minutes each user is allowed. Minute Guard can be set to alert the user/administrator when the minutes used are 75%, 80%, 90% and 100% of their Minute Allowance.
What If I Have Free Nights & Weekends or Phone-to-Phone?
Minute Guard can determine your plan and track only the minutes you pay for. If you have night and weekend minutes or phone-to-phone, those minutes are not included in your overall minute tally. If you don't have nights and weekends or phone-to-phone that is ok too. Minute Guard will include those in your overall minute tally. Minute Guard provides this differentiation without requiring additional settings.
Is It Compatible With My Service And Phone?
Minute Guard is compatible with all major carriers and any cellular phone that can accept text messages*. Currently Minute Guard is compatible with the following carriers: Sprint PCS, Nextel, AT&T Wireless, Cingular, Verizon & T-Mobile. New carriers are continually being added so check back soon if Minute Guard is not currently available for your provider.
*User can still receive e-mail alerts if phone is not compatible with text messaging
How Can I Use Minute Guard For My Family?
Minute Guard has administrative features that allow parents to keep a constant watch over their children. When a member of the family receives a Minute Guard alert, a parent can elect to receive an administrative e-mail notifying them of impending overage (as shown above).
Must I Download Software To My Phone Or Computer?
No. Minute Guard works without requiring additional software to be downloaded to the user's phone or computer. With your permission, Minute Guard works with your carrier to obtain information regarding your minutes.
Can Minute Guard Listen Into My Phone Calls?
No. Minute Guard does not 'hack' into your calls or into your provider's system in any way. Nothing is downloaded to your phone, computer or cellular network. With your permission, Minute Guard works with your carrier to obtain information regarding your minutes.
What Happens After I Sign Up?
You will receive an e-mail from Minute Guard notifying you that your setup has been complete. The e-mail will include your automatically generated 6-digit Minute Guard password, for changing your alert settings. After your account has been setup, your users may take up to 24 hours to activate. When this happens, you will receive an additional e-mail verifying that your service has been activated.
