FirstNet users now have access to AT&T’s 5G+ network

AT&T shared some good news to first responders this week. 

According to their release, first responders using their FirstNet network will have access to their 5G millimeter wave (mmWave) network or 5G+. AT&T will be making 5G+ available to first responders based in 38 cities and over 20 venues.

Here are AT&T and Verizon’s plans for their C-Band spectrum

Recently, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) held an auction for its C-Band radio spectrum. And of course, the major carriers did their best to outbid each other. Verizon was most notable at the auction since it purchased $45 billion worth of C-Band radio spectrum. Meanwhile, AT&T and T-Mobile spent $23.4 billion and $9.3 billion, respectively. And now, we’re getting word on what AT&T and Verizon intend to do with their recent spectrum purchase. 

Cricket Wireless will no longer activate new 3G customers starting January 19

Cricket Wireless is following the footsteps of its parent company, AT&T. 

According to reports, Cricket will stop activating non-HD Voice-capable and non-LTE-capable devices on its network starting January 19th. This is in line with their upcoming 3G network shutdown, which is expected to take place in February 2022. 

AT&T pushing through with its 3G network shutdown schedule

Earlier this week, Verizon announced that they have pushed their 3G network shutdown to an indefinite date. But even though there is no specific date mentioned, the shutdown remains evident. Today, AT&T and Cricket Wireless have released more information about its 3G network shutdown schedule and it looks like it’s happening real soon.  

AT&T’s 5G+ network is now live in Chicago

AT&T has expanded its 5G+ network to Chicago. 

To be more specific, the network is now live in certain parts of downtown Chicago including The Loop, the United Center, and along the Magnificent Mile. Aside from 5G+, AT&T’s low-band 5G coverage can also be found in Chicago. 

AT&T shutting down 320 stores

AT&T will be closing 320 of its company-owned AT&T Mobility retail stores in the next coming months. Unfortunately, this also means that over 1,600 workers will be affected by this. 

The Communications Workers of America (CWA) union reported that this number is different from the 250 stores that the wireless carrier closed in the early parts of the year. 

AT&T launches new Unlimited Your Way program

Early this week, AT&T announced its newest program that lets customers save money under an unlimited plan. The new program, called Unlimited Your Way, lets customers mix and match their chosen unlimited plan. 

What this does is that it allows you to customize the plans under each number in your account. You can choose from the three available plan options:

AT&T may have found a way to lessen the cost of its monthly phone plans

AT&T may have found a way to help make monthly cellphone bills more affordable for its customers.

Yesterday, AT&T CEO John Stankey revealed that they are considering offering a discount on their plans in exchange for ads. The CEO shared that if this strategy will be approved, it would be implemented a year from now.

AT&T advises customers to switch to 4G phone before February 2022

It looks like AT&T may have hurriedly sent out an email to some customers and caused them to panic just a little. That’s because the wireless network failed to include vital information on an email it sent out to customers today.

AT&T is now offering HBO Max in one of its plans.
