Can you suggest good sites for comparing cellular phone plans?

BartT123

What's your problem? There are only more than 300 cellular phone and PCS phone companies in the US. Can't you just call around on your lunchtime and find one? I'm busy "researching" Bikini.com.

As if. With the country chopped up into 734 cellular markets and 493 PCS markets, you'd be calling well into the next millennium.

That's why I would try My-Phone-Call.com, which post links to what they feel offer the best deals in cell phone service. Actually they offer much more than that-tips on how to wade though the confusing jungle of cell phone service claims, prepaid cell phone services, cell phones and cell phone accessories, and much more.

But if it's more you want, it's more you'll get at MyRatePlan.com. And it's more you'll overpay if you don't use their resources: Their opening page sports a "Waste Clock" that shows how much we're needlessly overspending on wireless and home long distance service-a grand total of over $3.5 billion on the day I visited.

You just enter your ZIP code, hit "go" and you'll get back a list of options like "single line", "family plan", and "prepaid"-you can even find dial-around wireless services that let you bypass your current overpriced wireless provider for international (and even some domestic) long distance. MyRatePlan.com even keeps you up to date on the latest promotions and the dirty little secrets cell phone services don't want you to know: areas you're most likely to overspend on, how to avoid roaming costs, etc.

If it's advice on wireless plans you need, then surf over to WirelessAdvisor.com. Here you enter your ZIP code and the site rings up all of the wireless, cellular and digital PCS phone companies that serve your area. Afterward, check out the site's helpful articles, glossary, and FAQ.

Finally, you can get connected at GetConnected.com, which comparison-shops Internet access, cable TV, handheld, local and long-distance phone, and wireless services. Plug in your ZIP code (or state or city), then browse your area's services based on plans, phone types, promotions, or even your lifestyle.

***Special to BellaL: You can find a list of searchable daily, non-daily, and even international newspaper archives online at U.S. News Archives on the Web. Keep in mind you can usually search for an article for free and get a brief excerpt of it, but you'll probably have to pay to get the whole article.
